Directions


From I-95

    Take exit 185. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Broadway (Rt. 15). Con­tinue approximately one mile to Somerset Street, where John Bapst High School is located. Turn right onto Somerset, and take the next left onto French Street. Continue 1 1/2 blocks to Congregation Beth El on the left. The building has white pillars, and the name appears on the portico.

From the Bangor Airport

    Exit the airport and turn right on Union Street. Continue straight on Union Street into town. Just past Bangor Theological Seminary (on the right), you will come to a 5-way intersection. Turn left onto Hammond Street (Rt. 2). Continue downhill to the center of town. At the bottom of the hill, Hammond Street becomes State Street. Go uphill on State Street two stoplights to Broadway. Turn left on Broadway. Take the next left onto Penobscot, and the next left onto French Street. Congregation Beth El is 1/2 way down the block on the left.

From the East

    Take Rt. 1A into Brewer. Watch for green overhead sign "Points North and East, Right Lane" and get into right lane. Next you will see another green overhead sign reading "to 95 North, to 2 and 9 East". Veer right here and follow this road past the Twin City Plaza to the new Bangor-Brewer bridge. Look for another green overhead sign reading "Left Lane to 95 North and 2 East". Stay in the left lane and continue straight, over the new bridge. At the end of the bridge there is a traffic light. Continue in the left lane, straight through the traffic light.

Continue on this road (Oak Street) for 3 more blocks (and 2 traffic lights) to the corner of State Street and Broadway. You will see a large stone All Soul’s Church on the left. Go through the light, travel one more block and turn left onto Penobscot, just before John Bapst High School. Go one block and turn left onto French Street. Congregation Beth El is 1/2 block down the street on the left.

From Bucksport

    Take Rt. 15 to Brewer, going past the entrance to 395. Rt. 15 becomes South Main Street. Continue past the Rt. 9/15 bridge into Bangor, continuing straight for another four blocks on North Main Street. Turn left just before the road goes sharply uphill, onto Brick Street. Follow the road as it curves to the right around some stores. Make a left at the stoplight onto the new bridge into Bangor. Stay in the left lane over the bridge.

Continue on this road (Oak Street) for 3 more blocks (and 2 traffic lights) to the corner of State Street and Broadway. You will see a large stone All Souls Church on the left. Go through the light, travel one more block and turn left onto Penobscot, just before John Bapst High School. Go one block and turn left onto French Street. Congregation Beth El is 1/2 block down the street on the left.

Parking & Handicap Access

Ample parking is available on both sides of the street, though there is a "No Park­ing" zone immediately in front of the steps leading into the build­ing. The driveway side-entrance has fewer steps. A handicap-access ramp is located at the end of the driveway.
